The throttle is opened and closed based on signals received from the Engine Control Module (ECM) rather than directly by the driver's right foot. The ECM receives input from various sensors such as the Mass Air Flow sensor, Throttle Position sensor, Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor, and Engine Coolant Temperature sensor, to determine the appropriate throttle opening for the current operating conditions of the engine. The ECM then sends a signal to the electronic throttle body to open or close the throttle valve accordingly.
