An ABS sensor is a wheel speed sensor that helps your car's ABS system know when to engage. The ABS system is designed to kick in during emergency braking situations to help prevent your wheels from locking up.  The sensor detects the rotation of a vehicle's wheels and sends this information to the vehicle's ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) control module.
